Twitter can be a great platform for promoting your brand and connecting with customers, but if you’re using it for business, it can be hard to keep up with the constant stream of tweets.
That’s where Twitter threads come in.
Twitter Threads allows you to post a series of tweets one after the other, which makes it easier for followers to follow along; and it also keeps your Twitter profile looking organized, professional, and polished.

How to Schedule a Thread on Twitter?
There are a few different ways to thread your tweets.
But unfortunately, at least by the time of writing this, is not possible to schedule a thread on Twitter natively, this means that you’ll need a 3rd party app or service for doing that.
If you try to create a thread on the Twitter website (something you do by hitting the Plus button), you’ll quickly see that the “schedule button” gray outs, meaning that it’s not possible to schedule the content, as it happens with single tweets.

You cannot even schedule Tweet Threads from TweetDeck, the more powerful Twitter management platform from the company.

That means that you’ll have to use a 3rd party app if you want to publish threads productively.
Twitter thread scheduling, an important note
Before jumping into the different tools you have available for scheduling threads, you should know that all of them schedule the whole thread.
This is, you’ll be able to schedule a thread of for instance 10 tweets to be published the 1st of May at 17:00, but you won’t be able to create a thread where you add one new tweet to it each day.
Knowing that, let’s see what options there are available on the market.
How to schedule a Twitter thread using Metricool
Metricool is a powerful tool that will allow you to achieve many things in your business in a very efficient way: create, manage, and analyze Google and Facebook ad campaigns, get reports of your website’s growth, create simple bio pages for your social profiles… and of course, schedule content!
Best of all? You can sign up for free.
This will allow you to manage 1 brand (i.e., one TikTok profile, Twitter profile, Instagram profile, website…) and you’ll be able to schedule up to 50 posts per month, more than enough for starting out.
Once you sign up, and connect your Twitter account by just signing in, go to the Planning Tab (1), and click on the date and time (2) you want your thread to be released.

In the popup window that will appear (where you can change the time and date if you missed the click), be sure to hit the + Create Thread Button.

And that’s (almost) all!
Notice how now, above the composing box, have appeared new tabs for each Tweet.

- You can click on each tweet to write on them
- You can drag and drop them to reorganize them
- You can add up to 80 tweets on a single thread!
- You can see a live preview of the thread on the right side of the panel
- You can use some Twitter features (see the bottom toolbox), like adding pictures, videos, gifs, icons, and even tagging people.
Once you are happy with the result, just click the Save button, and your Twitter thread will be automatically scheduled on the date and time you picked.
If you are not ready, you can save it as a Draft.
As you can see, is very easy (and free) scheduling Twitter threads with Metricool.
If you want to manage more accounts, you can sign up for a Pro Plan.
- The Pro Plan 5 starts from $12 per month, and among other many things, it will allow you to manage up to 5 brands.
- If you want a small discount from the yearly plan, currently there is a limited-time offer at AppSumo where you’ll be able to save around $25.
Scheduling Threads with Threadstart.io
Threadstart is a relatively new service for, you guess, managing your Twitter threads!
Using it is super easy, as you can sign up using just your Twitter account.
Then, you just need to:
- Hit the “write thread button”
- Write in the editor.
- Note: you can press Enter to create new lines and press ⇧Enter create new tweets on your thread.
- Schedule your thread!

As you can see, pretty straightforward, but don’t underestimate it.
Threadstart gives you (for free) another tools for efficient thread creations, like:
- Thread Marker, to create and insert a thread marker on the cursor position (i.e., the classic “🧵 Thread 👇”)
- Thread Numbering, to automatically number the tweets of your thread (e.g. 1/3)
- Bold, cursive and strikethrough of characters,
- And Threads drafts
If you join any of the paid plans, you’ll access even more powerful features, like the one that automatically quotes the first tweet of the thread in order to make it easier for your followers to share your content.
If you join any of the paid plans, you’ll access even more powerful features, like the one that automatically quotes the first tweet of the thread in order to make it easier for your followers to share your content.
The free plan allows you to connect one Twitter account, and schedule up to 2 threads, with a maximum of 6 tweets each. If you want to have unlimited threads and tweets, among other cool features, you should join one of the paid plans.

Threadcreator, another Twitter Thread scheduling tool
Threadcreator is the last main tool that will be reviewed in this guide about scheduled threads.
You’ll find that it’s very similar to the other ones, as all you have to do is:
- Sign up with your Twitter account
- Click the “Compose Thread” button you’ll find on the menu
- Start writing
- Schedule!

The example you’ll find is actually a micro-tutorial that will explain how the app works, so you’ll find it very easy to start creating with Threadcreator.
I wanted to share this tool because the free plan could better fit your requirements, as this one allows you to schedule one thread per month, but unless Threadstart, there is no limit on the tweets you can add.
Other tools for scheduling threads
In the market you’ll find other tools for scheduling threads on Twitter, another two that there are available are:
- Tweepsmap, which looks pretty basic in comparison with the other tools reviewed here.
- OneUpApp
- And Zlappo. That has a very limited free plan, although you can get a lifetime deal on AppSumo.
Can you schedule Twitter threads with Buffer?
I love Buffer, and if I have to schedule single tweets, that’s the tool I always use.
But so far, there is no way of scheduling Twitter threads on their App, just share now the tweet, share next on your buffer, or schedule the single tweet at a specific day and time in the future.
Wrap up
- There is no way of scheduling Twitter Threads on the Twitter Website
- You can schedule Twitter Threads for free using tools like Metricool (best choice), Threadstart or Threadcreator
- You cannot schedule threads using Buffer
